Short Description of Instrument |
Children are asked to respond twice to 25 items to how true the statement is for them. There are 5 subscales: Interpersonal/ Social Consequences; Worries and Concerns; Intrapersonal/Emotional; Secrecy and Concealment; and Quest for Normality.

There is also a parent proxy scale available.

Rationale/Justification |
This instrument is recommended when the investigator desires to obtain ratings of quality of life from children ages 8 to 15 years.

Psychometric properties: Chronbach's a showed internal consistencies of 0.7 or above for four subscales in each measure.
Test-retest reliability for children 8 and older was satisfactory.
Face and content validity of the measures were confirmed by the fact that all the items were identified and discussed as HRQL issues by a sample of the population of children with epilepsy and their parents in specifically designed focus groups. (Ronen et al 1999)
