Collaboration

The Common Data Elements (CDE) Project is a multi-agency collaboration involving the NINDS and other NIH Institutes, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), federal agencies, not-for-profit organizations, foundations, various national/international organizations, as well as members of the scientific community at large. The NINDS CDE development and implementation has involved subject matter experts from around the world, NIH institutes, federal agencies, non-profits and foundations, pharmaceuticals, laboratories, companies, and the public. The goals of this collaborative effort have been to:

  • Expedite release of standards in the NINDS CDE format
  • Review and incorporate existing standards
  • Improve efficiency within agencies and avoiding duplication of effort
  • Synchronization with other standardization projects

These collaborative efforts continue through the release of version 1.0 of the various disease-specific CDEs and beyond. For more information on the details of the collaborations, please contact the NINDS Office of Clinical Research at carolina.mendoza-puccini@nih.gov.
