Short Description of Instrument

Purpose: To screen for DSM-IV Axis I disorders most commonly encountered in individuals 18 years or older.
Description: The Psychiatric Diagnostic Screening Questionnaire (PDSQ) can be used in medical and outpatient mental health settings and it allows primary care providers to routinely consider co-morbidity. It includes 125 self-report yes-no questions that can be scored on a scale for 13 disorders. Each scale is provided with a cut-off score, critical items, and follow-up interview guidelines.
Comment: The PDSQ has a high sensitivity and high negative predictive value and it can improve the efficiency of a diagnostic evaluation.
Primary Dependent Measures: Total score in each diagnostic section.
