Classification
Supplemental: Parkinson's Disease (PD)
Short Description of Instrument
The Apathy Motivation Index Caregiver Version (AMI-CG) is an 18 item caregiver reported index that assesses apathy in the behavioral activation (BA), emotional sensitivity (ES), and social motivation (SM) domains over the previous two weeks. It was adapted from the Lille Apathy Rating Scale (LARS).
Scoring and Psychometric Properties
Total AMI-CG score correlated positively with Lille Apathy Rating Scale - caretaker index (LARS-i) overall score (r = 0.72, P < 0.01); internal reliability was good to acceptable (Cronbach's a overall = 0.85, a BA = 0.85, a SM = 0.70, a ES = 0.79) in PD, Alzheimer's disease, subjective cognitive impairment and limbic encephalitis (Klar et al., 2021). ROC analysis with LARS-i as good standard showed good accuracy (sensitivity = 0.82, specificity = 0.76, area under the curve (AUC) = 0.85).
Rationale/Justification
Strengths: Multidimensional assessment of apathy; take less than 5 minutes to complete.

Weaknesses: Limited use in PD. May overestimate apathy.
