Short Description of Instrument |
The ICIQ-bladder diary records a patient's urinary frequency, volume voided, fluid intake (amount, time, type), bladder sensation and pad use over a 3-day period. This validated diary can be used in clinical practice for the assessment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).
|
Comments/Special Instructions |
Bladder diaries are commonly used in urology practice and this one has been validated by the International Consultation on Incontinence.
|
Scoring and Psychometric Properties |
Scoring: N/A - This is a diary recording urinary frequency, volume voided, and fluid intake completed over 3 days.
Psychometric Properties: Validity, reliability and responsiveness established with rigor in several data sets (Bright et al., 2012, 2014).
|
Rationale/Justification |
Strengths: Ease of administration and validated in idiopathic overactive bladder (OAB). This is the only tool that can capture nocturnal polyuria, which is common in PD and otherwise missed if questionnaires alone are used.
Weaknesses: Has not been validated in PD.
