Short Description of Instrument |
The Galveston Orientation Amnesia Test (GOAT) can be administered to assess the duration of post-traumatic amnesia, including ten items on recovery of orientation to person, place, and time. The duration of retrograde and anterograde amnesia can be assessed.
The test takes 5-10 minutes to administer and is appropriate for ages 16 and older. The GOAT should be administered by a health service provider.

Rationale/Justification |
Strengths: Very well known, used in the field for many years, and has very good psychometric properties.
Weaknesses: Lacks sensitivity to mild memory and other cognitive deficits.
