CDE Catalog

***Please contact NINDS CDE team (NINDSCDE@emmes.com) in case you encounter any search difficulties.***

The CDE Catalog is a directory of the available NINDS CDEs. Users can search the Catalog to isolate a subset of the CDEs (e.g., all stroke-specific CDEs, etc.), and to view and download details about the CDEs.

Select any filter below to search the CDE Catalog.

For best results, clear form between searches. In addition, when specifying NeuroRehab, Sport-Related Concussion (SRC) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) as the Disease, please select a Subdisease as well.

NeuroRehab Comprehensive includes all NeuroRehab CDE recommendations. NeuroRehab General includes all NeuroRehab CDE recommendations that are not disease specific. All other NeuroRehab Subdiseases include recommendations specific to existing NINDS CDE project disorders.

Choose your Time Frame for your SRC study (Acute (time of injury until 72 hours), Subacute (after 72 hours to 3 months), and Persistent/Chronic (3 months and greater post-concussion) or Comprehensive if your study falls across the study time frames.

Choose your type of TBI study (Acute Hospitalized, Concussion/Mild TBI, Moderate/Severe TBI: Rehabilitation, or Epidemiology) or Comprehensive if your study falls outside of the study types or incorporates aspects of more than one type of study.

C54286 Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) Scale - Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage thickness scale

BNI scale measures increasing SAH thickness on a quantitative scale and is used to predict the likelihood to develop symptomatic vasospasm. The axial head CT for the slice demonstrating the thickest-appearing subarachnoid blood in any subarachnoid space is examined. The thickness of the subarachnoid blood is measured across the cistern or fissure (ie, perpendicular to the direction of the cistern or fissure on axial cut) in the thickest-appearing region. The scale is based on 5-mm increments of SAH thickness

C02427 Epidural hematoma status

Status of a collection of blood between the skull and dura. On CT, the EDH typically (though not always) has a biconvex shape, an adjacent skull fracture/scalp injury, and classically does not cross sutural margins. (In patients with skull fractures, especially those in children involving the sutures, this rule may not always apply.) The acute EDH is hyperdense, but may contain hypodense areas representing unclotted blood. As the EDH evolves, it gradually loses its hyperdensity and may appear iso/hypodense. On MRI, the acute EDH is hypo/isointense on T1 and very hypointense on T2, GRE, and SW-imaging. The inwardly displaced dura should be directly visualized on MR as a thin dark line on all pulse sequences
