Classification
Supplemental: Myalgic encephalomyelitis/Chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS)
Short Description of Instrument
The Cogstate instrument is a computerized customizable test battery that is used in studies of ADHD, fatigue and drug effects, post-operative cognitive dysfunction, MCI, early Alzheimer's disease and dementia, Schizophrenia, mood disorders, as well as ME/CFS. The battery measures attention, memory, and executive function.
The age range for this instrument is 10 to 99 years.
The time to complete depends upon the number of modules administered. The modules administered as part of the ME/CFS CDC MCAM study take about 15-20 minutes.
Comments
ME/CFS Recommended Modules:
Adult: Detection Test; Identification; One Back; Two-Back; One Card Learning; Groton Maze Learning
Pediatric: Detection; Identification; One-Back; One Card Learning
This task can be modified for use in functional neuroimaging.
Scoring
The test batteries are scored using computer algorithms.

Rationale/Justification
ME/CFS Specific: This software is currently used by the ME/CFS CDC MCAM study to assess cognition, especially attention, information processing and working memory longitudinally.
