Classification
Supplemental-Highly Recommended: Myalgic encephalomyelitis/Chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS)
Short Description of Instrument
This is a speed dependent test that is very sensitive to deficits in information processing ability. It is also a test of sustained attention. Norms for the "Standard" PASAT

The PASAT consists of four sets. Each set has 50 numbers. The time intervals for each set are 2.4, 2.0, 1.6 and 1.2 seconds. The CD version of the PASAT allows for calculation of normative standard scores. These normative scores were constructed from a meta-analysis of three normative studies of the PASAT. The findings of these studies were used to form composite norms using regression procedures. The studies included a composite sample of 1,488 normal volunteers. The norms were designed to generate two T scores, one based on the composite sample without any demographic corrections, and a second T score based on an Age correction.

ME/CFS Specific: A staple in any cognitive study of ME/CFS as the instrument is very sensitive to deficits in information processing and working memory. A modified version for neuroimaging exists and has been used many times (Lange et al., 2005; Cook et al., 2007).
Scoring
Time to Administer: 15 minutes, including training
The brain metrics version is based on Gronwall's version (Gronwall, 1977) of the test and scored electronically.
