| Short Description of Instrument |
Purpose: The ASIA Sensory Scale measures the amount of sensory function presenting in patients with spinal injuries. The scale tests 14 key dermatones on each side of the body, for a total of 28 testing sites.

| Comments/Special Instructions |
Instructions: The test is performed by using both light touches and pin pricks on the key dermatomes to collect the score. The presence or absence of anal sensations are also recorded during the tests.

| Scoring |
Scoring: The ASIA Sensory Scale utilizes a 0–2 rating based on a 56-point scale. The scale is as follows:
– The sensation is present but impaired 2 – The sensation is normal

This is a widely used scale to rate sensory impairment and has been extensively validated.
