Short Description of Instrument
The Participation and Environment Measure for Children and Youth (PEM-CY) examines participation frequency, extent of involvement, and desire for change in sets of activities typical for the home, school, or community. Items in the 'Environment' section examine perceived supports and barriers to participation within each setting.
Comments/Special Instructions
Can be used for children with and without disability ages 5 to 17 years.
Scoring
For home, school and community frequency of participation is an 8 point ordinal scale, involvement in activity 5 point ordinal scale and desire to change participation 6 point ordinal scale.
Rationale/Justification
Recommended for specific study designs where facilitators and barriers may impact the efficacy of an intervention outcome.
