| Short Description of Instrument |
The Leiter International Performance Scale-3 (Leiter-3) evaluates nonverbal cognitive, attentional and neuropsychological abilities. It can be used to assess "typical" and "atypical" individuals ages 3 to 75+ years. Administration time is 20 to 45 minutes. (Roid & Miller, 1997)

The Leiter-3 subtests include a cognitive, attention and memory and examiner rating scales. The cognitive scales emphasize fluid intelligence, the attention and memory scales enhance the interpretation of the global IQ score and the examiner rating scale gathers social-emotional information about the individual. (Roid & Miller, 1997)

| Scoring and Psychometric Properties |
Scoring: It provides an IQ score, as well as percentile and age-equivalent scores for each subtest.
Psychometric Properties: The validity of a test may be judged in part by its correlation with other well-known tests of the same ability or capacity. It was possible to correlate the present scale with several other well-known tests of intelligence, both verbal and non-verbal.

| Rationale/Justification |
Strengths: Offers a completely nonverbal measure of intelligence that is ideal for use with those who are cognitively delayed, non-English speaking, hearing impaired, speech impaired, or on the autism spectrum. The test was designed to be more culturally and ethnically fair, and as such may be particularly useful for research protocols that enroll across countries.
