| Short Description of Instrument |
Purpose: To screen for over 30 common mental disorders in children and adolescents.
Description: Pediatric version of the CIDI. It covers diagnostic criteria covered in DSM-III-R, DSM-IV and ICD-10. The interview is organized into six different diagnostic sections, including Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Disruptive Disorders, Substance-Use Disorders, Schizophrenia, and Miscellaneous Disorders (e.g. Eating, Elimination). Each section assesses the diagnosis within the past year and present (last four weeks). Each section assesses the diagnosis within the past year and present (last four weeks). The interview is highly structured with the answers being limited to yes-no and sometimes-somewhat responses.

| Scoring |
The youth version of the DISC contains 2,930 questions, and the parent version contains a few more. Out of these, 358 are asked to everyone, known as stem questions. The other questions are asked based on the answers on the 358 questions to determine if the symptoms meet specification for diagnostic criteria as well as onset, impairment and treatment of symptoms. Four hundred ninety-nine questions are asked to assess any symptoms and diagnosis that were not present within the last year.
