Short Description of Instrument
The Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV Axis Disorders Patient Version (SCID-I/P) provides a clinician-administered semi-structured scripted approach for evaluation of psychopathology and to establish the current or lifetime presence of psychiatric diagnoses according to DSM-IV Criteria (American Psychiatric Association, 1994).

The Anxiety Disorders module includes all of the typical anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety disorder, specific phobia, social phobia, panic disorder, agoraphobia, post-traumatic stress disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder). It also includes questions to establish whether the features of a typical anxiety disorder might be regarded as 'secondary to a general medical condition'.
Scoring
For each specific anxiety diagnosis, initial probe questions address critical criteria for that disorder. Affirmative answers are followed by additional questions and negative responses allow the interview to skip subsequent questions in that section.
