Short Description of Instrument

The Migraine Specific Quality of Life v.2.1 (MSQoL v2.1) is a 14-item, self-administered instrument covering areas of specific concern to persons with migraine. Specifically, it addresses factors of role function-restrictive (7 questions), examines the degree to which performance of daily activities is limited by migraine, role function preventive (4 questions), examines the degree to which performance of daily activities is prevented by migraine; and emotional function (3 questions), examines feelings of frustration and helplessness due to migraine.

Scoring

Patients are asked to provide their response to each question using a standard six point Likert-type scale (none of the time; a little bit of the time; some of the time; a good bit of the time; most of the time; all of the time). Each MSQoL v.2.1 dimension is scored independently from 0 to 100 such that a higher score indicates a better quality of life. A scoring instruction manual is available through the Medical Outcomes Trust.
