Short Description of Instrument
The Corsi block-tapping task is a widely used test to assess visuospatial working memory. The test is traditionally administered using nine square blocks positioned on a wooden board, but there are many digital versions and a version has been incorporated into a number of Wechsler tests. The examinee is required to reproduce a sequence of blocks tapped by the examiner by tapping the blocks in the same or backward order.
 
The Spatial Span subtest from the Wechsler Nonverbal Scale of Ability (WNV) (Wechsler& Naglieri, 2006) is derived from the Corsi tasks and utilizes the same response demands with a ten block array. The WNV has normed scores for ages 4–21.
 
Administration: Sequential pointing.
Administration Time: 5 minutes.
Accessibility: MACS I-II/III.
Comments/Special Instructions
Research that utilizes the Corsi tasks have shown that CP entails risk for difficulties with sequence-learning, performance predicts early math skills, and is associated with improvements in memorized joint positions when given a longer time to learn the positioning.
